Rheem SP8346 Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve – Code-Compliant Protection for Tank-Type Water Heaters
The Rheem SP8346 T&P valve is an essential safety component for residential and light commercial water heaters. Designed to automatically relieve excessive temperature and pressure inside the tank, this valve protects against over-pressurization and helps maintain system integrity in compliance with plumbing and mechanical codes.
This model features a 3/4" NPT male inlet and 3/4" NPT female outlet, with a temperature relief setting of 210°F and a factory pressure setting of 150 psi. The included test lever allows for manual operation and inspection as part of routine system maintenance.
Key Features
Automatic Relief – Opens when tank temperature exceeds 210°F or pressure reaches the rated threshold, preventing potential tank rupture
Brass Body Construction – Corrosion-resistant, durable design suitable for potable water systems
Thermo-Bonded Coating – Enhances external corrosion resistance for long-term field reliability
Manual Test Lever – Enables field verification of operation and drainage pathways
Universal Compatibility – Standard connections and dimensions allow use with most tank-type water heaters
Specifications
Inlet: 3/4" MNPT
Outlet: 3/4" FNPT
Temperature Setting: 210°F (99°C)

Installation and Maintenance
Install vertically on the top or side tapping of the water heater, depending on tank design. Discharge piping must be installed per code and routed to a safe drain point. Annual inspection and manual testing are recommended. Valve should be replaced if there are signs of corrosion, leakage, or if testing indicates failure to open or reseat properly.
Intended Use
OEM replacement for Rheem water heaters
Approved T&P solution for pressure-rated storage tanks
Field-installed safety upgrade or replacement as required by inspection
